The makers of ‘Bandar’, starring Bobby Deol, have announced that the film will release in theatres worldwide on June 5. The project has already generated curiosity for its intense premise and the creative team backing it.
According to a PTI report, the film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and written by Sudip Sharma along with Abhishek Banerjee. Known for his gritty storytelling and unconventional narratives, Kashyap’s involvement has raised expectations around the film’s tone and treatment.
‘Bandar’ had its world premiere at the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, where it drew attention for its hard-hitting subject. Inspired by real-life events, the film revolves around a fading film star who is accused of rape, setting the stage for a layered exploration of power, accountability and the complexities of the legal system.
The narrative is said to delve into systemic injustices, the silencing of voices within courtrooms, and the harsh realities of a flawed legal framework. With a story rooted in contemporary issues, the film aims to present a stark and unflinching look at the intersection of fame, crime and justice.
For Bobby Deol, ‘Bandar’ represents another significant role in his recent career trajectory, which has seen him take on more intense and unconventional characters. With its strong premise and festival pedigree, the film is expected to draw both critical and audience attention when it releases in June.
