Actor Xolo Mariduena is set to reprise his role as Jaime Reyes, also known as Blue Beetle, in James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ sequel, ‘Man of Tomorrow’. The film will mark his first appearance as the DC superhero since the release of the 2023 standalone film ‘Blue Beetle’.
According to an ANI report, Mariduena first portrayed Jaime Reyes in ‘Blue Beetle’, directed by Angel Manuel Soto. In the film, Jaime is a recent college graduate whose life changes after he comes into contact with a mysterious alien scarab.
The advanced alien technology bonds with him, giving him a powerful armoured suit, superhuman abilities, and transforming him into the superhero Blue Beetle.
His return in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ confirms that Blue Beetle will continue to be part of Gunn’s new DC Universe (DCU).Fans had been waiting for an update on the character’s future following the launch of the rebooted DC franchise, and Maridueña’s comeback strengthens Blue Beetle’s place in the expanding cinematic universe.
Mariduena is widely known for his role as Miguel Diaz in Netflix’s hit series ‘Cobra Kai’, alongside his performance in ‘Blue Beetle’. His return is expected to introduce more interactions between Blue Beetle and other major DC superheroes as the new DCU continues to grow.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ will continue the story of Superman while expanding the universe with familiar heroes and new characters.
