‘Khashaba’, the upcoming sports biopic directed by Nagraj Manjule, will release in theatres worldwide on January 1, 2027.
The film is based on the life of legendary wrestler Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, who made history by becoming independent India’s first individual Olympic medal winner. He won a bronze medal in wrestling at the 1952 Summer Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland, according to a PTI report yesterday.
Produced by Jio Studios and Aatpat Productions, the film will show Jadhav’s inspiring journey, from overcoming challenges to achieving success on the world’s biggest sporting stage. It aims to introduce audiences to the life and achievements of one of India’s greatest sports icons.
Director Nagraj Manjule is known for making successful and critically acclaimed films such as ‘Fandry’, ‘Sairat’ and ‘Jhund’. He has also directed the web series ‘Matka King’.
Sharing the teaser on X, the filmmakers wrote, “Witness the extraordinary story of India’s first individual Olympic medal winner. ‘#Khashaba In Cinemas Worldwide on 01.01.2027.”
With its inspiring true story and the return of Manjule to the big screen, ‘Khashaba’ is expected to be one of the most awaited sports films of 2027.
