The OnePlus Android Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) is back with its fourth season, promising to be the biggest edition of the tournament so far. Organised by NODWIN Gaming in association with JioStar, the tournament will air live on Star Sports Khel and JioHotstar from August 18 to September 14 between 5 pm and 8 pm. This year’s competition carries a record prize pool of Rs.1.5 crore and will also stream for the first time on JioStar, broadening its reach to millions of gaming fans across the country.
According to a press release issued by the organisers, BGMS Season 4 is set to redefine the viewing and playing experience for Indian esports. One of the biggest highlights this season is the introduction of multi-cam coverage, allowing fans to watch not only the main broadcast and the map but also dedicated streams of top-performing teams. Beginning next week, special player cams will also showcase the intensity and focus of standout players on the big stage, making the broadcast more immersive than ever before.
The format has also undergone a significant change, bringing in a Challenger Series (BGCS) alongside the Masters Series (BGMS). While 24 professional BGMI teams will battle it out in the main Masters Series, the Challenger Series will host 24 more teams including four all-women squads, campus winners, and invited lineups. The top four from BGCS will then clash with the bottom 12 BGMS teams in the playoffs, with only eight securing a spot in the semifinals. These eight will join the top eight BGMS teams that qualify directly, and together they will contest for a place in the Grand Finals. This tiered system creates an opportunity for fresh talent to shine on one of the biggest esports platforms in India.
Adding to the thrill are three returning gameplay innovations that have become a hallmark of the tournament. The Powerplay will allow teams to double their finish points in the first zone, while the Impact Player rule enables a team to select one member whose points are doubled on weekends. Alongside these, the Bounty System will put extra rewards on eliminating designated rival squads during matches, making the competition unpredictable and fiercely competitive.
This season also brings with it a dual LAN experience. Matches from the Challenger Series will be staged every afternoon from 12 pm, followed by the Masters Series games in the evening. This back-to-back setup ensures that fans can enjoy a full day of high-energy esports action while also witnessing the rising synergy between grassroots players and seasoned professionals.
Speaking about the new season, Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, said, “BGMS has always been more than just a tournament; it’s a cultural phenomenon. From grassroots to greatness, from campus halls to national TV—this is BGMS like never before.” Siddharth Sharma, Head – Audience Engagement at JioStar, added, “We are proud to bring this movement to audiences across the country. Season 4 exemplifies the youth-driven, high-quality content we aim to deliver.”
Now in its fourth year on national television, BGMS has emerged as a benchmark for competitive gaming in India. Season 3 alone attracted over 145 million views across platforms, and with its expanded structure, inclusion of women’s teams, and innovations in broadcast, Season 4 is expected to reach new heights and further cement India’s position on the global esports map.
