Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series have signed an agreement with Reliance Entertainment to distribute their slate of upcoming titles, including Hansal Mehta’s ‘Faraaz’ and Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Afwaah’, in the international market.
According to a press release, ‘Faraaz’, which was released in theaters on Friday, is Reliance Entertainment’s first project.
The film is a tense hostage drama based on the 2016 terrorist attack on a Dhaka cafe. Zahan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal, and Juhi Babbar Soni star in the flick.
Following ‘Faraaz’, Reliance will release Mishra’s latest directorial venture ‘Afwaah’, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar.
Sinha’s upcoming film ‘Bheed’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Pednekar, will also be distributed by the studio, PTI reported from Mumbai.
The film, described as a story that sheds light on the social disparities that the country faced during its darkest hours, will be released in theaters on March 24. Pankaj Kapur, Ashutosh Rana, and Dia Mirza also star.
“We are thrilled to be working with Reliance Entertainment on the international release of our films. This allows us to ensure that the messaging in all of our films reaches a larger and more diverse audience,” Sinha, the founder and managing director of Benaras Mediaworks, announced in a statement.
T-Series CEO Kumar expressed his delight at the company’s partnership with Reliance Entertainment.
“It makes me even happier that T-Series, as a team, is making rapid progress in making Indian entertainment available to a global audience. There’s more to come, and I hope we continue to strive and achieve even greater heights in the coming years,” he added.
Reliance Entertainment’s Head of Overseas Businesses, Dhruv Sinha, stated that the company is excited to collaborate with T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks.
“We will use specific focused release strategies that are content specific to films produced by Benaras demands. With changing audience tastes, this is an urgent need that we recognize,” Sinha said.
