The trailer of Aryan Khan’s much-awaited debut directorial, ‘The Ba*ds of Bollywood’, has finally been unveiled, sparking excitement across Bollywood circles and among streaming audiences. Aryan, son of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, marks his first outing as director with this seven-episode Netflix series.
Starring Kill actor Lakshya in the lead, the series also features Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh and Vijayant Kohli in pivotal roles. Adding to the buzz are cameos from Aamir Khan, ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, Disha Patani and several Bollywood names. According to the official press release, the show will premiere on Netflix on September 18, 2025.
The trailer, spanning three minutes and twenty-eight seconds, introduces audiences to Aasmaan Singh (played by Lakshya), a young aspirant determined to conquer the silver screen. Backed by his best friend Parvaiz (Raghav Juyal) and manager Sanya (Anya Singh), Aasmaan navigates the glitz, chaos and cut-throat competition of the film industry. His parents, essayed by Mona Singh and Vijayant Kohli, cheer his breakthrough moments as his career begins to take flight.
Packed with satirical digs at paparazzi culture, industry rivalries and insider politics, the series cleverly balances humour and drama. A standout moment in the trailer shows Aamir Khan in a playful exchange with Lakshya over choosing between Idli and Vada Pav, symbolising the South versus Hindi cinema landscape. Equally striking is the cameo by Rajamouli, while Shah Rukh Khan’s brief appearance closes the trailer with a surprising twist.
The show also pits Lakshya’s character against superstar Ajay Talvar, portrayed by Bobby Deol, when he is cast opposite Talvar’s daughter, a Bollywood debutante played by Sahher Bambba. Alongside fame, the narrative teases darker turns with Aasmaan’s rumoured links to the underworld.
Adding to its vibrancy is the soundtrack, a collaboration with T-Series. The album features compositions by Shashwat Sachdev, with contributions from Anirudh Ravichander and Ujwal Gupta. Notably, Arijit Singh lends his voice to two key tracks: “Badli Si Hawa Hai,” composed by Ravichander with Amira Gill, and “Tu Pehli Tu Aakhri,” created by Sachdev.
Netflix, while sharing the trailer on its Instagram handle, captioned it: “Too filmy to be real. Too real to be filmy.”
‘The Ba*ds of Bollywood’ streams on Netflix starting September 18, 2025.
