Applause Entertainment, Window Seat Films, and Reliance Entertainment have come together for acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s next feature — a heartfelt story exploring love, loss, and the timeless quest for connection.
The yet-untitled project boasts an impressive cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah, and marks the reunion of the celebrated trio — A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali — whose creative synergy has produced some of Indian cinema’s most memorable music.
According to a press statement, the film recently completed its Mumbai schedule and has now moved to Punjab for its next phase of shooting. Set for a Baisakhi 2026 theatrical release, the production promises a blend of contemporary storytelling, emotional depth, and Ali’s signature sensitivity towards human relationships.
Produced by Applause Entertainment, Mohit Choudhary, and Reliance Entertainment, this Window Seat Films production is expected to deliver a refreshing, witty take on modern-day love while paying homage to the filmmaker’s poetic narrative style.
Speaking about the project, Sameer Nair, Managing Director of Applause Entertainment, said, “Working with Imtiaz on an epic love story that spans time and space is the perfect match for Applause’s big-screen ambitions. With a phenomenal cast set to A.R. Rahman’s and Irshad Kamil’s musical brilliance, this is truly a romance for the ages.”
Sharing his thoughts, Imtiaz Ali added, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This is a film that I feel fortunate to be working on. It’s about what remains with us when everything else is lost — the love that refuses to be left behind. The film has a large canvas, yet it is deeply personal — a story of a boy and a girl, and also a country.”
As the project progresses, audiences can expect a cinematic experience that blends soulful music, evocative storytelling, and Imtiaz Ali’s signature romantic lens — a film that promises to linger long after the credits roll.
