The short film ‘Retake’, written and directed by actor Shweta Basu Prasad, will receive its American premiere at the New York Indian Film Festival on Tuesday, according to production company Applause Entertainment.
The short film follows a 60-year-old artist who attends his mentor’s funeral and sees his former girlfriend and buddy, prompting him to reconsider his life choices and artistic endeavors.
It will be shown on May 13 in the ‘Shorts A (Narrative) category at New York’s Village East by Angelika. The film addresses themes of love, loss, and reflection.

The short film‘s editor is Aarti Bajaj, whose most recent credit is the hit Prime Video series “Jubliee,” while the sound designer is Oscar winner Resul Pookutty. Ram Sampath composed the music.
