Amitabh Bachchan recently recalled his childhood memories of Allahabad and the city’s famous milk jalebis on ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ Season 18. The actor shared how he would walk to the Sangam to bathe in the river and enjoy freshly made milk jalebis after crossing the embankment.

According to a SET press release from Mumbai today, the conversation took place when contestant Lakshya Kumar Dwivedi asked Bachchan about his favourite cuisine. The actor said he preferred simple food such as dal-roti. When the discussion turned to Allahabad’s famous sweets, he fondly remembered his childhood visits to the Sangam.

Recalling those days, Bachchan said that he would walk from where he lived to the Sangam, bathe in the river and rub the riverbank soil on his body. After taking a dip and crossing the embankment, he would find milk jalebis nearby.

Bachchan also spoke about how much he missed the delicacy, saying that he could not express it in words. He added that he had never eaten a jalebi more delicious than the ones he remembered from Allahabad. He told the contestant that he was fortunate to belong to a family that had tasted the famous sweet.
