The star power of Mumbai sparkled a little more on Thursday evening as Icon Star Allu Arjun took the stage at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.
Held at the grand Jio World Centre, the actor’s much-awaited session, ‘In Conversation: Talent Beyond Borders’, turned into an honest, stirring, and powerful reflection on fame, failure, and finding oneself.
Moderated by Barun Das, MD & CEO of TV9 Network, the session drew in a packed audience and was part of the multi-day summit inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to a release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), WAVES 2025 is being hailed as a landmark moment for India’s creative economy, bringing together the country’s top talent, industry leaders, and visionaries under one roof.
Praising the platform and its vision, Allu Arjun said, “India has always had the soul. Now, we have the stage. I believe WAVES will be a launching pad for India to lead the world in creative content.” His words set the tone for what soon became a deeply personal conversation about the actor’s evolution on and off screen.
Revisiting a pivotal accident that forced him into a six-month break, Arjun called the period a blessing in disguise. “That pause made me look inward. From chasing stunts, I began chasing substance. As the muscles fade, the mastery must rise,” he said, explaining how the experience redefined his approach to acting. “Acting became my new frontier.”
In a moment that drew cheers, he confirmed his next project — a collaboration with acclaimed director Atlee. Calling it “a visual spectacle rooted in Indian emotion,” Arjun described the film as an ambitious blend of cutting-edge global technology and India’s cultural soul. “This film is for India, and from India, to the world.”
Touching on the intensity of staying relevant in today’s pan-Indian and global entertainment space, the Pushpa star acknowledged the immense talent emerging across industries and languages. “You must stay authentic, stay hungry, and be versatile,” he said. “This is not just an industry anymore, it’s a battlefield of creativity, resilience, and evolution.”
But it was when he spoke about his roots that the auditorium fell into a reflective hush. Paying an emotional tribute to his family, Arjun said, “I’m not a self-made man. My grandfather Allu Ramalingaiah, my father Allu Aravind, and my uncle Chiranjeevi — I’ve grown with their guidance, love and legacy. I’m blessed.”
And as the session closed, Allu Arjun spoke of the love he receives from his fans — calling them his strength, his reason, and his energy. “When the lights dim and the applause fades, it is you who lift me. It is you who remind me why I do this,” he said, as the audience responded with thunderous applause.
WAVES 2025 continues through the weekend and is being seen as a defining celebration of India’s ascent as a storytelling superpower.
