Actors Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre are set to portray investigative officers in an upcoming web series based on the 1978 Geeta and Sanjay Chopra kidnapping and murder case, widely known as the Ranga-Billa case.
The series, directed by Prosit Roy, is currently being filmed in New Delhi, with plans to shoot additional scenes in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai.
The Ranga-Billa case involved the abduction and murder of siblings Geeta and Sanjay Chopra by Kuljeet Singh (alias Ranga) and Jasbir Singh (alias Billa), leading to their execution in 1982. This upcoming series marks the first in-depth dramatization of the case, aiming to depict the events with sensitivity and accuracy.
Filming is expected to continue through April, with post-production scheduled for June and July. The series is anticipated to release by the end of the year.
