Actor and host Akshay Kumar was left surprised and inspired by 58-year-old contestant Ashu Jain in the upcoming episode of ‘Wheel of Fortune’, as her remarkable journey of fitness and academic achievements drew admiration on the show. A fitness influencer, Ashu shared how she began going to the gym at the age of 54 to add some “tadka” to her routine life, proving that age is no barrier to personal transformation.
According to a press release, what began as a casual conversation on the show soon turned into a revelation as Ashu opened up about her inspiring life milestones, leaving both the host and the audience impressed. Speaking about her decision to start her fitness journey, she said, “Daal mein tadka lagate lagate life boring ho rahi thi. Socha life mein thoda tadka lagaya jaye,” explaining how she stepped into a gym for the first time at 54 while managing her responsibilities at home and with her family.
Today, Ashu is a well-recognised fitness influencer and continues to push her limits. She revealed that she regularly attends Zumba classes and participates in marathons. Sharing her progress, she said she once ran 10 kilometres but now comfortably runs 15 kilometres. She also surprised everyone by revealing that she is 58 years old and already a grandmother.
Beyond her fitness accomplishments, Ashu also spoke about her academic pursuits. She completed her Master of Technology (M.Tech) at the age of 44, began her PhD at 47, and successfully earned the degree at 53. Her determination impressed Akshay Kumar, who jokingly asked whether joining NASA was next on her list.
The actor further remarked that her inspiring journey reminded him of his wife, author and former actor Twinkle Khanna, who completed her Master’s degree at the age of 50 and is now planning to pursue a PhD.
Ashu also demonstrated confidence and quick thinking during the game, spinning the wheel and solving puzzles with ease. Her enthusiasm and strong performance secured her a place in the final round, as viewers await to see whether she walks away with the grand prize.
The episode will air from Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and will also be available for streaming on Sony LIV.
