Bollywood actor-producer Ajay Devgn has officially confirmed the release date of his much-anticipated film ‘Son of Sardaar 2’.
Taking to social media, Devgn shared that the sequel to his 2012 action-comedy ‘Son of Sardaar’ will hit theatres on Diwali 2027, promising fans another festive blockbuster laced with humour, high-octane action, and desi flair.
As per an IANS report, the announcement comes amidst growing curiosity around the project, which has been in development for some time. Devgn, who also produced the original film, is back at the helm for its sequel under his banner Ajay Devgn Ffilms. In his post, he shared a first-look poster that carries the tagline “This Diwali, the Sardaar is back,” igniting excitement among fans who’ve long awaited the film’s return.
While the original ‘Son of Sardaar’ featured a high-energy clash between Devgn’s character and Sanjay Dutt’s antagonist, the sequel is expected to follow a fresh storyline but retain its core flavour — patriotism, family values, and sardonic wit. The first film, a remake of the Telugu movie ‘Maryada Ramanna’, was a commercial success and had earned praise for its punchy dialogues and vibrant Punjabi setting.
Although the cast of ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is yet to be officially announced, reports suggest that the team is currently in the process of finalising key roles and pre-production is underway. Devgn’s post, however, hinted at a larger-than-life spectacle and described the project as “a tribute to valor, humour, and heritage.”
