Bharti Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom company, has undergone significant changes in its management board. Shashwat Sharma has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO), while Sunil Taldar, formerly the Director of Market Operations for the India business, has transitioned to lead the transformation efforts for Airtel’s Africa business.
In a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Airtel announced, ‘We wish to inform you that Mr. Sunil Taldar, Director – Market Operations shall be moving to Airtel Africa Plc. as Director – Transformation.’ This transition has been made effective over the past week.
Shashwat Sharma, who previously oversaw the marketing and consumer business for the telecom company and served as the Chief Executive of Airtel DTH (linear TV distribution), has taken on the role of COO.
In the wake of these changes, Amit Tripathi has assumed the position of Director – Marketing and Customer Experience, taking over most of Shashwat Sharma’s responsibilities, excluding the DTH business, which has been handed over to Siddharth Sharma.
These strategic shifts aim to bolster Airtel’s presence and operations in both the Indian and African markets.
