Aaj Tak has once again clinched the top spot in the Hindi news genre, continuing its winning streak in the latest BARC ratings for Week 21, 2025. According to the data for HSM | 15+ | 24 Hrs | Gross AMA’000, the channel recorded an impressive Gross AMA of 1,06,202, securing a 13.3 percent market share and edging out close rival News18 India, which stood at 1,05,147 AMA with a 13.1 percent share. The rankings are based on a competitive analysis of 14 Hindi news channels.
As per a press note issued by the channel, this reaffirmation of Aaj Tak’s dominance comes on the heels of its lauded coverage of “Operation Sindoor” last month. The channel’s comprehensive, uninterrupted reporting during the crucial coverage days of the high-stakes operation drew record-breaking viewership, solidifying its standing in both rolled and unrolled BARC metrics during Weeks 18 and 19.
Much of the credit for this consistent leadership, the channel notes, goes to its revamped prime time strategy. With an all-new team of dynamic anchors and a fresh programming lineup, Aaj Tak has carved out a distinct advantage in the prime time slot — a space traditionally considered make-or-break in TV news viewership. This approach not only improved content depth but also helped the channel connect better with audiences across regions.
During the ‘Operation Sindoor’ coverage on May 8, Aaj Tak also achieved a digital milestone, hitting a peak of 2 million concurrent viewers on YouTube — reaffirming its dominance beyond traditional television, especially in the growing digital news space.
With its continued investment in fast-paced journalism and tech-forward storytelling, Aaj Tak remains a formidable force in India’s highly competitive Hindi news landscape.
