Times Now Navbharat Digital launches ‘Ab Bas’ campaign against dowry harassment

Times Now Navbharat Digital has launched a special awareness campaign titled ‘Ab Bas’ to highlight the growing concern around dowry harassment, emotional abuse and violence faced by women after marriage. The initiative comes at a time when several recent cases from across the country have once again brought the issue of dowry-linked abuse into public discussion, raising questions about how such practices continue to exist even in educated and financially stable households.

The campaign, announced through an official Times Now Navbharat Digital initiative, aims to go beyond reporting individual incidents and instead focus on the larger societal mindset that enables such behaviour. Through articles, expert discussions, social media content and awareness-driven storytelling, the platform plans to encourage conversations around gender discrimination, marital abuse, emotional pressure and the cultural conditioning that often forces women into silence.

According to the network, the campaign has been designed to address the uncomfortable reality that dowry harassment is no longer limited to economically weaker or socially conservative sections of society. From urban middle-class families to affluent households, several women continue to face emotional, mental and financial abuse within marriages despite increasing independence and educational progress.

The initiative will run across Times Now Navbharat Digital’s website and social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook and YouTube. Through the campaign, the network intends to examine how marriage often gets reduced to a transaction instead of a relationship, while also questioning the silence surrounding such practices in many parts of society.

The campaign will feature insights from sociologists, psychologists, legal experts and other professionals to help create awareness around women’s rights, legal remedies, mental health and relationship dynamics. Informative content based on real-life experiences and expert conversations will also be published to educate women and families about recognising abusive behaviour and understanding available legal protections.

The initiative will additionally look at the role of authorities and the judiciary in handling such cases, with a focus on institutional accountability and justice for survivors. By addressing both social attitudes and systemic gaps, the campaign hopes to encourage stronger public dialogue around safety, dignity and equality within marriages.

Times Network had previously launched a similar initiative titled ‘SafeHer Times’, which focused on addressing misogyny, objectification and crimes against women. With ‘Ab Bas’, the network now aims to continue that larger conversation by taking discussions around dowry harassment and marital abuse to audiences across urban and regional India.

Through its extensive reach on vernacular digital platforms, Times Now Navbharat Digital hopes the campaign will encourage families and communities to see the issue not as an isolated problem, but as a collective social responsibility that demands urgent attention.
