Double Tap Films, the microdrama studio backed by Pratilipi, has entered into a strategic partnership with TikTok to distribute its original Indian content across key international markets. The collaboration marks the studio’s first major step into global content distribution and reflects the growing international appetite for Indian-language storytelling in short-form formats.
According to PTI report, the partnership covers 21 original shows from Double Tap Films, which will be made available on TikTok across Canada, the United States, Brazil, and Japan. The agreement has been structured as a one-year non-exclusive licensing deal and will operate on a monthly revenue-sharing model.
The move is significant for Double Tap Films, which has rapidly emerged as a prominent player in India’s growing microdrama segment. By taking its content to international audiences through one of the world’s largest short-video platforms, the studio aims to expand the reach of Indian stories beyond domestic markets and tap into new viewer communities.
Under the agreement, all 21 titles will be streamed in their original Hindi audio, while subtitles will be added in the respective local languages of the target markets. This approach allows the studio to retain the authenticity of its storytelling while making the content accessible to non-Hindi-speaking audiences.
The partnership also highlights the increasing global demand for short-form scripted entertainment. Microdramas, known for their fast-paced narratives and mobile-first viewing experience, have gained traction worldwide as audiences increasingly consume content on smartphones and social media platforms.
For Pratilipi-backed Double Tap Films, the collaboration represents an opportunity to showcase Indian narratives on a larger international stage while exploring new monetisation avenues through digital distribution. The company has built its reputation by adapting compelling stories into bite-sized visual content designed for digital-first audiences.
The deal comes at a time when Indian content creators and studios are actively exploring global markets, leveraging digital platforms to reach viewers across geographies. With TikTok’s massive international user base, the partnership is expected to provide Double Tap Films with valuable exposure and insights into audience preferences outside India.
As the demand for regional and culturally diverse storytelling continues to rise globally, the collaboration could pave the way for more Indian microdrama content to find audiences in international markets, further strengthening the global presence of India’s digital entertainment ecosystem.
