Marathi cinema has achieved a historic milestone with ‘Raja Shivaji’ becoming the first Marathi film to surpass the Rs.100 crore mark in India net box office collections.
Produced by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, the epic historical drama directed by Riteish Deshmukh has collected Rs.101.40 crore nett in India, setting a new benchmark for the regional film industry.
According to the makers, the film continues to attract audiences even in its fourth weekend, reflecting the strong connection viewers have formed with its portrayal of the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The achievement comes after the film had already rewritten Marathi box office records with the biggest opening day, biggest opening weekend, and highest single-day collection ever recorded for a Marathi release.
‘Raja Shivaji‘ has emerged as more than just a commercial success. The film has resonated deeply with audiences across Maharashtra and other regions by celebrating the courage, leadership, and vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on a grand cinematic scale. Its combination of historical storytelling, emotional depth, and large-scale production values has helped it sustain momentum well beyond its opening weeks.
The film’s box office journey has been remarkably consistent. It earned Rs.57.70 crore during its first week, followed by Rs.27 crore in the second week. The third weekend added another Rs.8.40 crore to its tally, while collections remained steady through the fourth week. The film collected Rs.1.25 crore on Day 18, Rs.1.45 crore on Day 19, Rs.1.20 crore on Day 20, Rs.0.95 crore on Day 21, Rs.0.70 crore on Day 22, Rs.1.35 crore on Day 23, and Rs.1.40 crore on Day 24.
With a cumulative India nett collection of Rs.101.40 crore, ‘Raja Shivaji’ has established itself as a landmark success for Marathi cinema. Industry observers view the milestone as a significant moment for the regional film sector, demonstrating the growing scale and commercial potential of Marathi-language films.
As the film continues its theatrical run, ‘Raja Shivaji’ stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of stories rooted in Maharashtra’s history and culture, while setting a new box office benchmark that future Marathi releases will aspire to achieve.
