Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited senior executive Laxmi Shetty has stepped down from the company, bringing an end to her long association with the broadcaster after 21 years. Her exit marks the conclusion of one of the longest-serving leadership journeys within the company’s sales and revenue division.
According to a BSE note filed by ZEEL, Laxmi Shetty resigned from her position due to personal reasons and will continue serving her notice period until November 9, 2026. The company informed stock exchanges that both Laxmi Shetty and Umesh Kumar Bansal had tendered their resignations from senior management roles.
Over the years, Shetty played a significant role in shaping ZEEL’s advertising and revenue operations. Less than a year ago, she was elevated to lead the company’s unified linear and digital ad revenue portfolio, where she oversaw monetisation, network pricing strategies, business intelligence and advertiser relationships across television and digital platforms.
During her two-decade journey at ZEEL, Shetty was known for helping modernise the network’s sales ecosystem by introducing data-driven systems and technology-led operations. She was closely involved in building advanced pricing structures, improving inventory utilisation through CRM-driven processes and strengthening relationships with major advertisers and media agencies.
In her resignation letter addressed to CEO Punit Goenka, Shetty described the decision as emotional and thanked the leadership for the opportunities and support she received over the last 21 years. She also mentioned that she had already completed the handover process to Sandeep, as advised by the management, and assured continued support during her notice period.
Responding to her resignation, Punit Goenka acknowledged her contribution to the organisation and stated that her dedication and perseverance would leave a lasting impact on the company. He also noted that her contribution to ZEEL over the past two decades would always be remembered fondly.
Before joining ZEEL in 2005, Shetty spent nearly 15 years with The Times of India Group, where she worked as Deputy Chief Manager and contributed to the development of early-stage MIS and business warehouse systems. She was also involved in creating pricing structures for print publications during her tenure there.
Her departure comes at a time when ZEEL continues to focus on strengthening its television and digital businesses amid growing competition in the media and entertainment sector.
