Sony Pictures Networks India has promoted Sushant Rane to associate vice president and region head – West, marking a significant step up in his nearly five-year journey with the network.
The development was shared via a LinkedIn post, where Rane acknowledged the role of mentors and team members in his growth, calling the promotion a collective achievement. He credited his team’s resilience and effort in helping him deliver consistent milestones across his tenure.
Rane has been closely associated with driving advertising revenue and strategic partnerships for SonyLIV across the western region as well as international markets. Over the past few years, he has worked on brand integrations across some of Indian television’s most high-profile properties, including ‘Shark Tank India’ and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, along with live sports programming that continues to attract strong advertiser interest.
His elevation follows a two-and-a-half-year stint as region head – West for SonyLIV’s emerging business ad sales, where he played a key role in sharpening the platform’s OTT monetisation strategy and strengthening brand partnerships. Prior to that, he spent over two years managing large customer ad sales, focusing on building and expanding key commercial relationships for the platform.
Rane brings over a decade of experience in media and advertising sales. Before joining Sony Pictures Networks India, he spent more than five years at Discovery Inc., where he rose through the ranks working across infotainment, sports and digital businesses. His earlier stint at Star India helped lay the foundation for his career in advertising sales.
His appointment comes at a time when the OTT space is seeing intensified competition not just for subscribers, but also for advertising revenue. With advertisers increasingly looking for scale, engagement and premium content environments, Rane’s expanded role will involve strengthening SonyLIV’s positioning across both brand partnerships and revenue growth in a highly competitive market.
