Ultra Play OTT is marking Mother’s Day (May 10) with a special showcase celebrating some of Bollywood’s most iconic mother-child legacies, highlighting the deep influence of maternal bonds on Indian cinema.
According to a press release from the platform, the initiative by Ultra Media & Entertainment aims to honour mothers not just as caregivers but as early influences who shape creativity, storytelling, and emotional depth in artists. The curated celebration brings together stories that reflect how these relationships extend beyond the screen into the very fabric of cinematic expression.
The showcase revisits legendary pairings such as Sharmila Tagore and Saif Ali Khan, whose careers span generations of Hindi cinema. While Tagore defined an era with films like ‘Aradhana’ and ‘Amar Prem’, Saif carved his own identity with performances in films like ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ and ‘Ek Hasina Thi’. Similarly, Dimple Kapadia and Twinkle Khanna represent two generations with memorable debuts in ‘Bobby’ and ‘Barsaat’.
Other enduring legacies include Tanuja and Kajol, known for their expressive performances across films like ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, ‘Bekhudi’ and ‘Karan Arjun’. The bond between Jaya Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan reflects a quieter strength, while the legacy of Nargis and Sanjay Dutt continues to resonate emotionally through their cinematic journeys.
Commenting on the initiative, Sushilkumar Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Ultra Media & Entertainment Group, noted that these relationships go beyond films, shaping values, emotions, and the way artists connect with audiences. He emphasised that a mother’s influence often defines not just a person, but also their creative expression.
With its extensive catalogue of classic and contemporary Hindi cinema, Ultra Play OTT is bringing together these stories to offer viewers a chance to revisit not only memorable performances but also the personal legacies behind them.
