Zee Bangla has announced the launch of its new mega-serial ‘Kamala Nibas’, an emotional family drama that explores the realities of a Bengali middle-class joint family, centred on themes of resilience, sacrifice, and enduring relationships.
Positioned as a reimagining of ‘Laxmi Nivas’, the show is an in-house fiction offering that focuses on a couple whose aspirations are grounded in simplicity—the dream of owning a home and building a secure future for their daughters. As generations coexist under one roof, the narrative traces how relationships are tested, values are challenged, and love is pushed to its limits, revealing both its fragility and strength.
At the heart of the story is Kamala, played by Sohini Sen Gupta, who represents quiet strength and unwavering resilience as a wife and mother. Opposite her is Shrinibas, portrayed by Debshankar Halder, a principled mechanic who measures success through dignity and respect rather than wealth. His promise to build a home for his family forms the emotional backbone of the series.
Commenting on the launch, Navnita Chakraborty, Business Head, Zee Bangla and Chief Content Officer, ZEE TV, said ‘Kamala Nibas’ reflects the emotional backbone of countless Indian households. She added that the show highlights the quiet resilience of middle-class families, their values, sacrifices, and enduring bonds across generations, while continuing the channel’s legacy of rooted storytelling seen in earlier titles.
The show also features a special guest appearance by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, marking his return to television and adding further depth to the narrative.
With its focus on realism and emotionally driven storytelling, ‘Kamala Nibas’ aims to connect with audiences across age groups by reflecting familiar family dynamics and celebrating everyday lives. The series premiered on April 13, 2026, and airs daily at 6.30 pm exclusively on Zee Bangla.
