Content creator Ektaa Kapoor is expanding her digital slate with two new web series, with Shefali Shah set to headline one of the projects. The move comes as her banner continues to deepen its collaboration with Netflix, building on a string of earlier releases.
According to a UNI report, nearly ten months after announcing a long-term creative partnership, Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and Netflix are now moving forward with two fresh series. The collaboration follows previous titles such as ‘Kathal,’ ‘Pagglait,’ ‘Jaane Jaan,’ and ‘Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare,’ which helped establish a strong creative footing between the two.
The first project, titled ‘Koke,’ is expected to be a large-scale period drama featuring an ensemble cast, with Shefali Shah playing a pivotal role. The series will be directed by Nupur Asthana, known for her work on ‘Four More Shots Please!’ and ‘The Royals.’ Production is scheduled to begin in Mumbai from April 20, indicating that the project is already moving into an advanced stage.
Details about the second series remain under wraps, but it will be helmed by Sahir Raza, whose past work spans television and digital shows such as ‘The Married Woman,’ ‘Illegal – Justice,’ and ‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2.’ Casting for this project is currently underway, with production expected to begin in the coming months.
The two series are part of Netflix’s broader content pipeline in India, which continues to expand across genres and formats. For Balaji Motion Pictures, the upcoming slate also includes theatrical releases like ‘Bhooth Bangla,’ featuring Akshay Kumar, and ‘Vvan – Force of the Forest,’ starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, alongside other projects currently in development.
With these new announcements, Ektaa Kapoor reinforces her position in the evolving OTT space, continuing to balance large-scale storytelling with character-driven narratives as streaming platforms intensify their focus on premium Indian content.
