CNN-News18 is set to host a special programme titled ‘Fury in the Gulf – War Conclave’, aimed at decoding the ongoing West Asia crisis and its wider implications for India and the world. As tensions in the region continue to evolve, the initiative seeks to bring clarity and perspective to a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.
According to a CNN-News18 press release, the conclave is built around the theme ‘Conflict, Consequences, and The Future,’ and is designed to cut through the noise and address the confusion surrounding the crisis through fact-based discussions and expert insights. With escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, the global order is witnessing significant shifts, impacting geopolitical alignments and creating economic uncertainty across regions.
For India, the developments hold particular significance due to its strong energy dependence on the Gulf region, deep-rooted trade ties and the presence of a large Indian diaspora. With strategic relations spanning Gulf nations, Iran, Israel and the United States, India faces the complex task of balancing its geopolitical interests, economic priorities and the welfare of its citizens amid the ongoing conflict.
The three-hour conclave will be held on April 7 from 4pm to 7 pm and will feature six curated sessions, combining one-on-one interviews with high-intensity panel discussions. The programme aims to break down the crisis and examine its implications across key areas such as geopolitics, economy, energy security and diaspora concerns.
Among the key sessions, ‘Diplomacy in Times of War’ will feature Shashi Tharoor, while ‘World After the Iran Conflict’ will bring together voices such as Ram Madhav, Reuven Azar, the Iranian Deputy Envoy and representatives from the European Union. Another session titled ‘Another Dunkirk?’ will see participation from K. J. S. Dhillon, along with Jitin Prasada and other ministers.
Rahul Shivshankar, Editorial Affairs Director at CNN-News18, said that in times of war, clarity becomes the most powerful tool. He noted that the conclave aims to bring together credible voices to address the questions and confusion arising from an overwhelming flow of information, emphasising the responsibility of delivering facts, perspective and insight.
Smriti Mehra, CEO – English and Business News at Network18, described the ongoing West Asia conflict as a defining global moment with far-reaching implications. She added that the conclave is an effort to present the situation with depth and nuance, helping viewers understand not just the developments but also their real-world impact.
With global discourse often clouded by speculation and fragmented narratives, CNN-News18 aims to leverage its editorial strength to deliver credible journalism through this initiative. The conclave will be broadcast across TV, connected TV platforms and YouTube, bringing expert analysis and informed debate to audiences across platforms.
