The Walt Disney Company has announced a global ‘Step into Wonder’ campaign for Earth Month, headlined by new National Geographic and Disneynature premieres including ‘Secrets of the Bees’ and ‘Orangutan’, alongside curated programming on Disney+.
The shows will be available on OTT platform JioHotstar in India as Disney is a joint venture partner of the streamer’s parent JioStar. Earth Month is celebrated throughout April globally.
In a statement, Disney said National Geographic’s two-part series ‘Secrets of the Bees’, hosted by Bertie Gregory and backed by filmmaker James Cameron, is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu — wherever these two services are available. The series uses advanced filming technology to explore the complex behaviour, intelligence and architecture of bee colonies, featuring insights from entomologist Dr Samuel Ramsey.
Another key title, Disneynature’s ‘Orangutan’, will premiere on April 22 (Earth Day) on Disney+. Narrated by Josh Gad, the film follows a young orangutan, Indah, navigating life in the rainforest canopy as she prepares for independence, offering an immersive look at Southeast Asia’s ecosystems.
Alongside the new releases, Disney+ will feature an Earth Month collection including titles such as ‘Ocean with David Attenborough’ (2025), which explores marine ecosystems; ‘Cheetahs Up Close with Bertie Gregory’ (2026), focusing on the predator’s behaviour in the wild; and Season 2 of ‘A Real Bug’s Life’ (2025), showcasing insect ecosystems through cinematic storytelling.
The initiative will also include the ‘Earth Moods’ livestream experience, streaming 24/7 on National Geographic’s YouTube channel throughout April, offering ambient visuals of natural landscapes, along with a digital and social series titled ‘Step into Wonder’ featuring explorers and creators sharing personal encounters with nature.
Highlighting the broader effort, Courteney Monroe, President of National Geographic, said: “For 138 years, National Geographic has been guided by a spirit of exploration that opens hearts as much as it expands minds. With ‘Step into Wonder,’ we’re putting that spirit at the center of Disney’s Earth Month.”
Disney said the month-long campaign will combine global storytelling, digital experiences and conservation initiatives aimed at inspiring audiences to engage with and protect the natural world.
