An industry session on digital transformation in the hospitality sector, centred on the Digital Connectivity Rating for Hotels (DCRA) initiative, was successfully conducted in Udaipur with participation from key stakeholders including RailTel Corporation of India, Five Ocean Global Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (FOG) and Hotel Association Udaipur.
The session highlighted RailTel’s role as the designated implementation agency for DCRA, positioning it at the core of efforts to standardise and improve digital connectivity across hotels in India, a press release from FOG stated.
Organised on March 19 by FOG Play in association with RailTel and Umbrella IPTV, the session focused on introducing the DCRA framework developed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Discussions revolved around how the initiative aims to establish benchmarks for digital infrastructure in hotels, ensuring better connectivity, compliance, and enhanced guest services.
Vikas Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Five Ocean Global Ventures (FOG), led the presentation, showcasing short films that explained the significance of DCRA and the role of RailTel in implementing the initiative. The presentation also outlined how RailTel is enabling digital infrastructure for hotels, alongside demonstrating the advantages of IPTV solutions and RailWire broadband services in delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity to guests.
The session, according to the press statement, featured an interactive question-and-answer segment, where hotel owners engaged directly with the speakers to clarify operational and technical aspects of the initiative. The exchange was marked by active participation, reflecting growing industry interest in adopting structured digital standards.
The event was attended by the leadership team of the Hotel Association Udaipur, including Sudershan Dev Singh Karohi, Rajesh Agrawal, Yashwardhan Ranawat, Usha Sharma and Joy Suhalka. The association expressed strong support for the DCRA initiative and assured cooperation in facilitating its adoption among member hotels.
Stakeholders described the initiative as a significant step towards building digitally empowered hotels capable of delivering improved guest experiences while unlocking new revenue opportunities.
