NDTV has announced the launch of Datafy, a new platform focused on data-driven journalism and storytelling, aimed at placing verified evidence at the centre of news narratives.
The initiative comes at a time when public discourse is increasingly shaped by sharp ideological divides and opinion-led debates, with the network positioning Datafy as a technology-driven engine to reinforce its commitment to viewer-first journalism.
According to a press release issued by the broadcaster, the platform reflects the vision of NDTV’s new leadership to strengthen the role of technology and analytics in storytelling. The initiative seeks to move beyond noisy studio debates and fragmented public conversations by using data to deliver clarity and context to audiences.
The idea behind Datafy is anchored in a simple editorial belief — that data itself tells a story. When analysed rigorously and presented with clarity, it can cut through partisan rhetoric and highlight realities that debates often obscure. The platform will focus on analysing complex datasets and presenting them in accessible formats so that viewers can better understand trends, patterns and contradictions shaping public life.
Built on a strong technological backbone, Datafy combines big data science, advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to transform complex information into compelling visual narratives. The platform will feature interactive dashboards, election trackers, economic analyses, policy deep-dives and global trend mapping, designed to make complicated subjects easier for audiences to grasp.
Announcing the launch, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of NDTV, said the initiative reinforces the network’s commitment to evidence-first journalism. He noted that the current media environment is often dominated by opinion rather than facts and said Datafy represents an investment in advanced analytics and AI-based tools to extract meaning from large datasets and present them in a way that provides viewers with clarity and context.
Namrata Dadwal, Senior Editor at NDTV, said the platform formalises data-based storytelling as a key editorial pillar for the organisation. She emphasised that data plays a crucial role in shaping public understanding, policy decisions and public opinion. When analysed responsibly and supported by strong visualisation tools, she added, data can transform complex information into clear and meaningful insights.
Datafy will operate across NDTV’s broadcast and digital platforms, powering coverage of elections, economics, geopolitics, sports and other key areas of public interest. The network has positioned it as an editorial engine that strengthens its long-standing philosophy of delivering journalism built on clarity, purpose and credibility.
With the launch of Datafy, NDTV is signalling a broader shift toward evidence-led storytelling, reflecting its belief that in an era of louder debates and deeper divides, credible data can bring much-needed clarity to national conversations.
