Parikshit Luthra bids farewell to CNBC-TV18

Senior journalist Parikshit Luthra has signed off from CNBC-TV18, bringing to a close a nearly two-decade-long association with Network18 Media & Investments Limited. February 28, 2026 marked his final day at the network, including eight years at the business news channel where he played a key editorial and on-air role.

In a LinkedIn post update announcing his departure, Luthra reflected on his final weeks at the channel, which included coverage of the Union Budget, the India AI Summit, India’s trade agreements with the US and EU, and the group’s flagship Rising Bharat Summit 2026. He noted that he continued anchoring until his last day and briefly met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his closing assignments, capping off a long tenure on a high-profile note.

Over the years, Luthra interviewed prominent business leaders and Union ministers, reporting extensively on economic policy, corporate strategy, the automobile sector and financial markets. His journalism coincided with several inflection points in India’s economic trajectory, allowing him to chronicle policy shifts, market volatility and structural reforms that shaped the country’s business environment.

At CNBC-TV18, Luthra also led new programming formats such as Newscentre, Global Eye and Global Lens. These shows examined politics and foreign policy through an economic lens, aligning with the channel’s push towards globally integrated business reporting. The formats reflected an editorial shift towards understanding how geopolitical developments increasingly influence markets and corporate strategy.

Luthra joined CNBC-TV18 in June 2018 as assistant editor and steadily rose through the ranks to become senior editor and chief of bureau, a role he held for over two years. Prior to his stint at the business channel, he worked with Republic TV and CNN-News18, building a reputation for policy-driven reporting and sharp political-economic analysis.

As he steps away from the newsroom, Luthra has indicated that he plans to take a short break before embarking on his next professional chapter. His departure marks the end of a significant phase both for him and for CNBC-TV18, where he was part of a generation of journalists navigating India’s evolving business and policy landscape.
