Tata Play Binge has curated a special Holi-themed movie lineup, offering viewers a festive watchlist designed to recreate the spirit of the festival at home with a mix of iconic Bollywood films, music and memorable cinematic moments.
According to a press release, the streaming platform has recommended five popular films that capture the vibrancy, emotion and celebration associated with Holi, encouraging audiences to enjoy a family movie marathon once the festivities conclude. The platform also noted that this year’s celebrations may vary regionally due to a lunar eclipse, with most places observing Holika Dahan on March 3 and celebrating the festival of colours on March 4.
The curated list features timeless classics and modern favourites, each known for its memorable Holi sequences and festive storytelling. Among them is ‘Sholay’, which includes the iconic song ‘Holi Ke Din Dil Khil Jaate Hain’. The film follows Jai and Veeru, played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, who are hired by Thakur Baldev Singh to take on the feared Gabbar Singh, with its Holi sequence remaining one of Hindi cinema’s most memorable festive moments.
Also featured is ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, known for the popular Holi track ‘Balam Pichkari’. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, portraying a story of friendship, love and ambition, with its colourful Holi celebration marking a key emotional turning point for the characters.
The platform’s list also includes Raanjhanaa, featuring Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor. Set in Varanasi, the film presents Holi as an intense and symbolic backdrop to a story of love, heartbreak and political drama, with colours reflecting emotional turbulence.
Another classic in the lineup is Kati Patang, starring Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh. The film’s song ‘Aaj Na Chhodenge’ has long been associated with Holi celebrations, while its narrative explores love, identity and redemption.
Completing the list is ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’, featuring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The film combines romance and social themes with high-energy festive sequences, reflecting contemporary conversations around ambition, independence and relationships.
The platform said viewers can access these films through a single subscription offering that aggregates multiple OTT services within one application, allowing audiences to explore diverse entertainment options without managing separate subscriptions.
With its curated Holi watchlist, Tata Play Binge aims to extend the festive spirit beyond outdoor celebrations, bringing together music, colour and storytelling for audiences looking to celebrate the occasion from the comfort of their homes.
