NDTV has strengthened its Hindi digital leadership with the appointment of senior journalist Vijay Rawat as Executive Editor, Hindi Digital. Rawat has taken charge of NDTV’s Hindi website, marking a new phase in the network’s ongoing push to sharpen its digital news operations.
Based in the Hindi digital newsroom, Rawat will lead editorial strategy and daily operations for the platform. He will report to Santosh Kumar, Senior Managing Editor, NDTV Hindi Digital. The move comes as NDTV looks to deepen its engagement with Hindi news audiences amid intensifying competition in the digital space.
Rawat brings with him over two decades of newsroom experience across print and digital journalism. He recently concluded a more than nine-year tenure with the India Today Group, where he served as Executive Editor of aajtak.in and played a key role in shaping the platform’s editorial growth. His last working day with the group was January 21.
Originally from Gwalior, Rawat has spent over 25 years in journalism. He began his career as a staff reporter with Dainik Jagran in Gwalior, before moving on to editorial roles at leading Hindi publications including Haribhoomi, Amar Ujala and Dainik Jagran, gaining experience across both reporting and desk functions.
In 2008, he joined the launch team of Network18’s Hindi digital platform IBNKhabar, now News18 India. During his eight-year stint there, Rawat rose from copy editor to news editor, contributing significantly to the platform’s digital evolution. He later moved to Aaj Tak Digital in 2016 as Assistant Editor and went on to become a core member of the India Today Group’s Hindi digital leadership team.
On the academic front, Rawat holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication from Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from Dr B R Ambedkar University, Agra.
With Vijay Rawat at the helm of its Hindi digital operations, NDTV is aiming to sharpen its editorial edge and build a stronger connect with Hindi-speaking audiences as digital news consumption continues to grow rapidly.
