‘Squid Game’ creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is set to return to Netflix with a new crime drama series titled ‘The Dealer’, with actor Jung So-min cast in the lead role. The streamer confirmed the production and announced the principal cast, marking another high-profile collaboration following the global success of ‘Squid Game’.
According to a PTI report, ‘The Dealer’ will feature Jung So-min, best known for ‘Alchemy of Souls and Love Next Door’, as a highly skilled casino dealer. The series also stars Lee Soo-hyuk of ‘Doom at Your Service’ fame, ‘Family Matters’ actor Ryoo Seung-bum, and Ryu Kyung-soo, who was last seen in ‘Our Unwritten Souls’, forming a strong ensemble for the upcoming show.
Set in the shadowy world of crime and gambling, ‘The Dealer’ follows Jung Geon-hwa, an exceptionally adept and seasoned dealer who has deliberately kept herself distant from the darker vices of the casino floor. Her carefully constructed life takes a dramatic turn when a housing scam shatters her plans for a newlywed future. Forced into an underworld she has long avoided, Geon-hwa must confront dangerous forces head-on, pushing her skills and resilience to the limit.
With Hwang Dong-hyuk attached as producer, ‘The Dealer’ is expected to combine sharp character-driven storytelling with high-stakes tension, continuing Netflix’s strong slate of Korean originals.
