Disney+ is preparing to significantly reshape its streaming experience as it looks to boost daily engagement and compete more directly with short-form video platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
At the CES Tech + Data Showcase, the company announced plans to introduce a vertical video feed on Disney+ later this year, signalling a shift beyond its traditional identity as a destination primarily for long-form films and series.
According to a TOI report citing industry sources, the move follows the successful introduction of “Verts” on the ESPN app in August last year. Disney executives see the new feature as a key step toward transforming Disney+ into a “must-visit daily destination,” with a personalised stream of short-form content spanning news, sports and entertainment tailored to individual viewing habits.
