A new Hindi web series, ‘Manushya’, streaming on Waves OTT, has been drawing strong audience appreciation for its humour-driven storytelling, engaging performances and culturally rooted narrative.
The show blends mystery, drama, suspense and elements of Indian history with light-hearted, relatable comedy, and has steadily gained positive word-of-mouth since its release.
Notably, ‘Manushya’ also premiered at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI), marking an important milestone in its journey.
According to a press release, the series has resonated with viewers across age groups for its ability to balance laughter with meaningful themes. Audiences have particularly responded to its distinctive tone, which uses humour as a narrative device while weaving in supernatural elements and references drawn from Indian mythology and history.
The series features an ensemble cast led by Rahul Dev, Chandan Roy, Ashok Pathak, Anil Charanjeett, Kumar Saurabh, Neeraj Sood, Atul Shrivastav, Lavi Pajni, Mahika Sharma, Jai Kumar and Shankh Agrawal. Performances across the board have been appreciated for their natural dialogue delivery, comic timing and emotional depth, with the chemistry among the cast emerging as one of the show’s key strengths.
‘Manushya’ is produced by Tripursundari Chalchitram Pvt. Ltd. and is backed by producer Shefali Gupta. Written and directed by Lakshya Neeraj Gupta, the series streams on Waves OTT, the digital platform of Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan). Since its release, it has been trending on the platform and has received encouraging reviews from both critics and viewers.
At its core, the story revolves around a righteous Rakshasni who descends to Dharti Lok with the mission of inspiring humans to become better “manushya”. The narrative blends grounded, small-town humour with larger-than-life supernatural elements, delivering its message through satire, wit and moments of spiritual reflection. Alongside comedy, the series explores themes of friendship, love, family bonds and moral responsibility, adding emotional weight to the storyline.

The title track ‘Manushya’, along with ‘Har Har Bhole’, ‘Ram Ji Song’, ‘Hoon Pita’ and ‘Kuch Tum Kahoge’, are currently trending on Instagram, while the show’s sharp punchlines and situations have fuelled a growing meme culture online.
