SPNI extends Australian Open b’cast rights for 3 more seasons

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has strengthened its long-standing association with Tennis Australia by extending its exclusive broadcast partnership for the Australian Open, ensuring continued coverage of the Grand Slam tournament for audiences across India and the Indian subcontinent.

SPNI, which has been the home of the Australian Open in India since 2015, will retain exclusive television rights along with full digital rights for the next three seasons across India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the network said in a press release.

The renewal underlines SPNI’s focus on delivering premium global sporting properties to viewers across multiple platforms.

The extended partnership means fans in the region will continue to get comprehensive access to the action from Melbourne Park in multiple languages, spanning live matches, studio programming, expert analysis and highlights. The Australian Open, which opens the global tennis calendar every year, has been the stage for some of the sport’s most iconic moments with champions such as Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal lifting the title over the years.

Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer-Distribution & International Business and Head- Sports Business at Sony Pictures Networks India, said the Australian Open has grown into a marquee event for tennis fans across the region. He noted that extending the decade-long partnership reflects Sony Sports Network’s commitment to bringing prestigious global sporting events to Indian audiences, backed by a strong understanding of viewer preferences across television and digital platforms.

Craig Tiley, CEO of Tennis Australia, said SPNI has played a significant role in expanding the Australian Open’s reach in India and neighbouring markets. He added that the renewed agreement will ensure fans continue to enjoy world-class coverage and storytelling across screens, capturing the scale and excitement that define the tournament.

The Australian Open 2026 will be broadcast live and exclusively on Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV from January 13.
