Senior television journalist and noted news anchor Rana Yashwant has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Editor-in-Chief of Hindi news channel News India. The appointment marks a significant leadership move for the channel as it looks to strengthen its editorial direction and expand its presence in the competitive Hindi news space.
Rana Yashwant’s elevation brings to News India a seasoned editor with decades of experience across some of the country’s most prominent news networks. Known for his sharp editorial voice and ground reporting, Yashwant has built a strong reputation in Hindi television journalism over the years.
Earlier this year, in March, Rana Yashwant concluded his stint with ITV Network and moved to Live Times. During his time there, he launched a weekly programme titled Facts and Figures and remained actively engaged with digital audiences. His presence on online platforms has been particularly notable, with his YouTube channel garnering around 3.5 lakh subscribers. Several of his reports during the recent Bihar election coverage attracted significant attention and were widely shared.
Prior to joining Live Times, Yashwant had a long association with ITV Network, which began in 2013. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the network’s Hindi news channel India News and was also the face of the popular programme Ardh Satya. In November 2023, he was promoted to the role of Editor-in-Chief of the network, after earlier serving as Managing Editor.
Over the course of his career, Rana Yashwant has held key editorial positions at leading media organisations including Aaj Tak, Zee News and Mahuaa TV. His body of work spans political reporting, investigative journalism and long-format news shows, earning him credibility among viewers and peers alike.
For his contribution to Hindi journalism, Yashwant has received several prestigious honours. His programme Ardh Satya has won the Red Ink Award and the ENBA Award. He has also been conferred with recognitions such as the Bharat Gaurav Samman, the Rex Karmaveer Global Fellowship and Award, and the Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award.
With Rana Yashwant taking charge as CEO and Editor-in-Chief, News India is expected to focus on sharper editorial positioning, stronger reportage and deeper engagement with its core Hindi-speaking audience.
