YouTube has announced that it will introduce a new set of subscription options, called YouTube TV Plans, beginning early 2026.
The update was confirmed in a blog post published by Christian Oestlien, Vice President and Head of Subscriptions at YouTube, who said the upcoming plans are designed to offer users more flexibility and control over what they choose to watch—and pay for.
According to the blog post, YouTube will roll out more than 10 genre-specific bundles, marking one of the platform’s most significant shifts since the launch of YouTube TV. At the centre of this expansion will be the YouTube TV Sports Plan, which is expected to serve as the flagship pack. It will include access to major broadcast networks along with sports-focused channels such as FS1, NBC Sports Network, the entire lineup of ESPN channels, and ESPN Unlimited.
Oestlien noted that the company’s goal is to make television consumption simpler and more intuitive by allowing subscribers to prioritise their interests. Users will retain popular YouTube TV features, including unlimited DVR, multiview streaming, key plays, and fantasy view. The sports pack will also allow customers to add premium experiences like NFL Sunday Ticket and RedZone as optional upgrades.
In addition to sports, YouTube will introduce themed plans focused on news, family, entertainment, and more, giving viewers the choice to assemble a leaner, more personalised version of traditional TV. Those who prefer the existing experience can continue using the current 100-plus-channel package without any changes.
While full pricing and bundle specifics haven’t been disclosed yet, YouTube said more details will be shared as the service approaches its 2026 rollout. The announcement reflects YouTube’s broader push to compete more aggressively in the streaming TV space, especially as consumer demand grows for à la carte content and customisable subscription models.
