Industry veteran Vikas Sharma has announced the launch of his new company, Five Ocean Global Ventures Pvt. Ltd., marking a significant development in India’s media, telecom and digital connectivity space. Sharma, who takes charge as Managing Director, begins this new chapter after an accomplished 32-year career across broadcasting, digital communications, OTT, broadband and ISP operations.
In a strong opening move, Five Ocean Global Ventures Pvt. Ltd. has secured its first official business partnership with RailTel Corporation of India, one of the country’s foremost ICT and telecom PSUs. The company has been appointed as an official Business Associate, a collaboration Sharma described as a “significant milestone” in the venture’s foundation. He expressed confidence that the partnership would pave the way for impactful, future-ready solutions and long-term industry value.
The announcement reflects the breadth of Sharma’s distinguished career. Widely recognised for his pioneering contributions to India’s broadcasting ecosystem and the broadband revolution, Sharma has worked across major television, digital and connectivity platforms. His portfolio spans television networks, OTT services, nationwide distribution, FTTH/FTTP expansion, ILL bandwidth planning, CRM frameworks, digital marketing, and full-scale ISP management.
One of the defining achievements of his professional journey was his tenure as Executive Director – Distribution & Marketing at Lok Sabha Television, the Parliament of India’s television channel. Sharma played a pivotal role in the launch, national rollout and branding of the world’s first parliamentary channel—an accomplishment regarded as a landmark in public-service broadcasting. His experience in government communications gave him deep insights into media policy, nationwide content dissemination and citizen-centric outreach.
More recently, as Global Head of Broadband & IoT Business, Sharma oversaw large-scale ISP operations while driving digital transformation, technological convergence, global partnerships and multi-market expansion strategies.
With the establishment of Five Ocean Global Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Sharma aims to bring together his extensive experience in media distribution and telecom infrastructure to build integrated, value-driven solutions at the intersection of broadcasting, digital connectivity and next-generation communication platforms.
Industry observers note that beginning operations with a prestigious partnership like RailTel sets a strong precedent. As the venture steps into India’s evolving digital landscape, expectations are high that it will open new avenues for collaboration across media, telecom and broadband sectors.
