Zee Kannada launches ‘Adi Lakshmi Purana’ on Dec 8

Zee Kannada is set to strengthen its prime-time fiction lineup with the launch of ‘Adi Lakshmi Purana’, one of its most anticipated new shows of the year. The series premieres on Dec 8 and will air every Monday to Friday at 9 pm on the channel.

The show arrives with considerable buzz and brings a narrative built on the clash of contrasting worlds. Set against the backdrop of tradition meeting modern aspirations, ‘Adi Lakshmi Purana’ follows Lakshmi, a knowledge-driven young woman from a village whose life becomes intertwined with Adi, a sharp, urban city boy.

After being dismissed by him in their first encounter, Lakshmi steps into his world once again, only to face the stern rules and rigid beliefs of Adi’s grandfather, Dharmaraj.

The story traces Lakshmi’s journey as she navigates these challenges and works toward earning Adi’s acceptance, offering a layered look at the friction between modern individuality and age-old expectations within both family and college settings.

The show features Rajneesh and Asha Ayyanar in the lead roles, bringing depth and nuance to the central characters. Adding another dimension to the story is the dynamic between Sanjeeva, a modest village schoolteacher, and Amrutha, an ambitious, affluent young woman pursuing a PhD—two individuals from entirely different worlds learning to coexist within marriage.

‘Adi Lakshmi Purana’ also boasts a strong ensemble cast that includes Manjunath Hegde, Ashok Sharma, Rakshitha, Sushma Nanayya, Malathi Sirdeshpande, Kailash, Jyothi, Savitha Krishnamurthy and Bhagyashri Rao. Each actor contributes to building a believable family universe, ensuring clarity and emotional consistency in the relationships portrayed on screen.

More than a conventional drama, the series delves into what unfolds when traditional values collide with contemporary mindsets. With high production quality and thoughtfully crafted sets, the show aims to offer audiences a visually rich and emotionally engaging experience.

Alongside the launch, Zee Kannada has also announced a schedule change for its popular series ‘Shree Raghavendra Mahathme’, which will shift to weekend telecasts. The show will now air every Saturday and Sunday from 6 pm to 7 pm.
