Star Plus has announced a special three-episode cultural event titled ‘Gita Mahotsav: Tulsi Ki Sang’, set to air from December 1 to 3, 2025, at 6.30 pm.
The series arrives in time for Gita Jayanti and aims to bring the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to today’s audiences through the iconic lens of Tulsi Virani, portrayed by Smriti Irani.
The channel shared the update through its official Instagram handle, highlighting the significance of the project within India’s evolving creative landscape.
As one of Indian television’s most recognisable and emotionally rooted characters, Tulsi Virani brings a rare mix of credibility and cross-generational resonance to the format.
Her cultural ubiquity was vividly underlined when Bill Gates greeted her with a “Jai Shri Krishna” during the ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ Season Two integration—an interaction that not only stunned viewers but also reaffirmed Tulsi’s cross-border recall value and the soft-power potential of India’s creative intellectual property.
Speaking about reprising her role, Smriti Irani said, “Returning as Tulsi for Gita Mahotsav has been both grounding and creatively enriching. India’s cultural and creative economy is witnessing a powerful resurgence, with audiences—especially the young—seeking stories that offer meaning, introspection, and emotional clarity. The Bhagavad Gita remains one of our greatest sources of wisdom, and interpreting its teachings for a new generation has been an honour. I hope viewers find the same strength and purpose in these episodes that I did while bringing them to life.”
With its blend of tradition and modern storytelling, ‘Gita Mahotsav: Tulsi Ki Sang’ reflects India’s shifting relationship with identity, spirituality and media. As the country’s spiritual economy continues to expand—fueled by innovative content formats, creator-led ecosystems and active digital communities—the special aims to tap into stories that draw from cultural archives while inspiring renewed curiosity.
Star Plus positions the event as a meaningful contribution to the creative economy, driven by narratives that resonate deeply with audiences seeking connection, clarity and continuity with heritage.
