ZEE5 has unveiled the trailer of its quirky supernatural family comedy ‘Gharwali Pedwali’, marking the first-ever &TV production to premiere directly on the platform. Set in Varanasi, the series brings together heartland humour, rooted cultural flavours and a playful paranormal twist, offering viewers a refreshed comedy line-up curated in collaboration with &TV.

According to an IANS report, ‘Gharwali Pedwali’ revolves around Jeetu Pandey, whose life takes an unexpected turn on his wedding day when he is compelled to marry a peepal tree to “fix” his horoscope. What he doesn’t realise is that the tree is home to Latika — a ghost trapped there for decades. The ritual binds her to Jeetu as his first wife, setting the stage for a chain of humorous, supernatural chaos.

As Jeetu tries to balance his modern gharwali Savi and his traditional pedwali Latika, his world quickly spirals into a whirlwind of culture clashes, emotional confusion and paranormal misadventures. Anchored in crisp 20–22-minute episodes, the show blends situational comedy with warmth, offering a family-friendly watch rooted in desi sensibilities.

Headlined by Paras Arora, Priyamvada Kant and Seerat Kapoor, the series leans heavily on the chemistry between its leads and the comic tension their characters create. Paras Arora said playing Jeetu was especially fun because the character is “an ordinary man pulled into extraordinary chaos”, adding that the blend of humour and emotion made the shoot feel natural and effortless.

Priyamvada Kant described Latika as a character where “innocence meets mischief”, highlighting that the ghost bride is more endearing than eerie. She said the role allowed her to create a warm, emotional presence despite the supernatural premise: “She’s the kind of bhootni you’d want to hug.”

Seerat Kapoor, who plays Savi, said the contrast between her character’s modern sensibility and the unbelievable situations around her made the experience engaging. She shared that the team found an easy chemistry that made even the wildest scenes flow smoothly: “The show blends humour, heart and a touch of magic all in one.”

With its fresh concept, cultural grounding and breezy comic storytelling, ‘Gharwali Pedwali’ aims to deliver a light-hearted entertainer as it prepares to stream first on ZEE5.
