The world of ‘Game of Thrones’ is set to grow even bigger, with HBO confirming new seasons of its two major spinoff series ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. The announcement strengthens the network’s long-term commitment to the fantasy franchise that continues to command a massive global following.
According to a PTI report, the update was shared by Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, during the network’s press presentation in New York on Thursday. The decision marks another significant expansion of the Westeros storytelling timeline as HBO doubles down on the franchise’s enduring popularity.
The third season of ‘House of the Dragon’ is slated to premiere in summer 2026, taking forward the high-stakes Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The series, which has earned praise for its scale, performances, and world-building, remains one of HBO’s strongest performers globally.
Alongside it, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ will also return with a new season. The series, based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘Dunk and Egg’ novellas, explores earlier chapters of Westerosi history and continues to build momentum as a key pillar in HBO’s post-‘Game of Thrones’ slate.
With multiple timelines, expanding character arcs, and renewed seasons locked in for the next four years, HBO’s Westeros universe is set for a sustained run, keeping fans invested in the sprawling fantasy world long after the original series ended.
