Senior journalist Sumit Awasthi has officially announced his departure from NDTV, marking the end of his brief stint at the network.
The announcement came on Thursday morning through a post shared on his social media platforms, where he wrote, “Bye bye NDTV… Wish you best.”

Awasthi added, “A new chapter begins… Now!!” signalling that he is already set to step into his next professional move. While he did not mention the reason behind his departure or details of his upcoming role, the tone of his message suggested optimism and readiness for his next assignment.
Awasthi is one of India’s well-known broadcast journalists, respected for his political reportage, prime-time anchoring, and decades-long presence across major Hindi news networks. His exit comes at a time when the media industry is witnessing frequent, high-profile transitions as channels restructure their editorial and on-air teams.
Though NDTV has not issued a formal public statement yet, the update shared by Awasthi has been widely circulated, with many noting that his departure adds to the list of prominent newsroom movements seen in recent months.
Industry watchers now await clarity on Awasthi’s next destination, as his post hints that an official announcement may follow soon.
