The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has launched the multilingual module on the E-Cinepramaan portal. The module has now been fully deployed and made live for public use. This initiative is part of the Board’s vision to digitize and simplify the film certification process for the Indian industry.
An official statement quoted CBFC Chairman Prasoon Joshi describing this optional feature — introduced in addition to the existing process — as designed to streamline and simplify certification for films intended for release in multiple Indian languages. With this facility, applicants can now submit films in various languages through a single, unified application, significantly reducing procedural duplication.
Under this module, each film certified for multilingual release will receive a multilingual certificate, clearly listing all languages in which the film has been approved. The Multilingual Film Certification initiative acknowledges the growing trend of pan-India cinema and aims to provide filmmakers with a seamless mechanism to cater to diverse linguistic audiences across the country, the government-supported body said.
Key features of the Multilingual Film Certification include the following:
# Single Application: Applicants can upload and submit all language versions simultaneously through the E-Cinepramaan portal.
# Unified Certificate: A single certificate will be issued granting multilingual status and specifying all certified languages.
# Streamlined Processing: The entire application will be processed by one regional office, ensuring efficiency and uniformity.
