Netflix has announced the appointment of Vamsi Murthy as its new Senior Director and Head of Marketing for India, where he will oversee the streaming platform’s marketing strategy and drive brand growth in one of its key international markets.
Murthy confirmed his new role in a LinkedIn post, expressing enthusiasm about joining the global entertainment leader. “Thrilled to share that I’ve joined Netflix to lead the Marketing charter in India. Looking forward to partnering with some of the best creative minds as we shape what’s next. Here’s to stories that connect, entertain, and inspire—the Netflix way,” he wrote.
With more than 15 years of experience across marketing, brand management, and digital strategy, Murthy has built a career spanning media, entertainment, and technology. Prior to joining Netflix, he served as Executive Director & Marketing Head at Jiostar, where he led consumer marketing for Hotstar, crafting brand equity for both fiction and non-fiction content. He also spearheaded campaigns for popular Hotstar Originals such as ‘Criminal Justice’, ‘Aarya’, and ‘Special Ops’.
Before his stint at Jiostar, Murthy held senior marketing roles at BookMyShow, ZEE5, Myntra, MakeMyTrip, Reliance Communications, and Radio Mirchi, where he worked across diverse facets of marketing including brand positioning, integrated communication, and digital engagement.
Murthy’s appointment marks a significant step in Netflix’s ongoing push to strengthen its footprint in India’s fast-growing streaming market, as the platform continues to invest in local content and original storytelling that resonates with Indian audiences.
