In a landmark step towards celebrating Marathi heritage and promoting regional entertainment, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday officially launched Abhijat Marathi OTT, a free digital platform dedicated to showcasing Marathi cinema, theatre, and music.
The grand event witnessed the presence of Minister Uday Samant, cultural leader Kedar Joshi, and several prominent dignitaries, marking a proud moment for Maharashtra’s creative community.
According to a press release, the Chief Minister’s presence at the launch underscored the state government’s continued commitment to supporting regional language initiatives and empowering local artists through digital platforms. Speaking at the event, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “The launch of Abhijat Marathi OTT is not just about creating another app—it is about building a cultural bridge for the future. Marathi art and stories deserve to be celebrated on a global stage, and this initiative ensures exactly that.”
Highlighting the importance of such ventures in today’s digital-first era, the Chief Minister noted that platforms like Abhijat Marathi OTT would help the younger generation stay connected to their roots while embracing modern forms of storytelling. He emphasized that making the app completely free of cost ensures inclusivity and accessibility for all users, regardless of background or region.
Minister Uday Samant lauded the Chief Minister’s vision and said, “This launch proves how serious our leadership is about preserving Marathi culture and giving it new wings in the digital era.” He added that the OTT platform would open new opportunities for artists, filmmakers, and creators to reach audiences worldwide.
Now available across all major platforms, Abhijat Marathi OTT offers a wide array of content—from classic Marathi films and timeless theatre performances to contemporary web series and cultural programmes. Strongly supported by the government and driven by visionary leaders like Kedar Joshi, the initiative is being hailed as a transformative step in regional entertainment.
With this launch, Maharashtra takes a decisive step towards ensuring that Marathi creativity finds its rightful place on the global digital map, preserving its cultural essence while embracing innovation.
