Actor Sanya Malhotra’s critically acclaimed film ‘Mrs’. is all set to make its World Television Premiere on September 28 at 12pm,exclusively on &pictures. Produced by Jio Studios and Baweja Studios, and directed by Arati Kadav, the film brings to screen the powerful journey of a woman who learns to rediscover her identity and inner strength after marriage.
At its heart, ‘Mrs’. tells the story of Richa (played by Sanya Malhotra), a newly married woman who moves into her husband’s family home. What begins as a tale of adjustment soon transforms into a moving narrative of resistance and courage as Richa finds herself caught in the cycle of expectations and household duties. The film delicately portrays her struggle to break free, while sparking vital conversations around equality, respect, and choice within families.
Sharing her experience, Sanya Malhotra said the role was deeply personal. “Mrs. is not just a film for me, it’s an experience that changed the way I look at the everyday lives of women around us. Richa’s journey made me confront questions of identity, choice, and courage in the most intimate way. She represents countless women whose voices often go unheard. Through its premiere on &pictures, I hope her story sparks conversations that matter.”
Her co-star Nishant Dahiya, who plays her husband, reflected on the film’s layered message. “What drew me to Mrs. was its honesty; it doesn’t shy away from showing how traditions, even when well-intentioned, can weigh heavily on individuals. I hope viewers see it not just as a film but as a conversation starter about roles and respect within families.”
Director Arati Kadav, known for her distinctive storytelling, said the film remains close to her heart. “At its core, Mrs. is a reminder that a woman’s identity is defined not just by the roles she plays for others but also by the choices she makes for herself. With Sanya’s soulful portrayal, the film finds both innocence and strength. I feel honoured that it will now reach households across the country through its premiere on &pictures.”
Alongside Malhotra and Dahiya, the film also stars veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh in a pivotal role. With its sensitive storytelling and nuanced performances, ‘Mrs.’ promises to leave a lasting impact on viewers when it premieres this weekend.
