Fans of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ have reason to celebrate as Prime Video confirmed that the global hit series will conclude with a feature film written and directed by creator Jenny Han. The surprise announcement was made during the series’ finale red carpet celebration in Paris, adding a cinematic twist to the beloved story’s closing chapter.

According to a Prime Video press release, the film will serve as the final milestone in Belly’s journey, offering the definitive conclusion that Han envisioned. “There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” said Han.

Adapted from Han’s best-selling trilogy, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ quickly rose to global acclaim following its 2022 debut. The first season premiered to become Prime Video’s #1 show during launch weekend, while Season Two in 2023 more than doubled its predecessor’s viewership in just three days. Season Three, which premiered this year, drew 25 million viewers worldwide in its first week, making it the fifth most-watched returning season in the streamer’s history.

The story, rooted in Han’s acclaimed novels, is a multigenerational drama exploring a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, while delving deep into family bonds, enduring female friendships, and the bittersweet transitions of adolescence. At its core, it remains a coming-of-age tale defined by first love, first heartbreak, and the fleeting magic of summer.
