Mumbai: Reinforcing its commitment to empowering businesses of all sizes to build stronger customer connections and scale operations, WhatsApp unveiled a suite of new features at its second annual Business Summit in Mumbai. The new capabilities are designed to make commerce more seamless, improve customer support, and give businesses a central platform to manage campaigns across Meta-owned apps.
According to The Business Standard report, one of the biggest announcements is the integration of payments into the WhatsApp Business app. Small businesses can now generate and share QR codes in a single tap, allowing customers to pay directly within WhatsApp using their preferred payment method. This move, Meta said, will not only simplify sales closures but also enable faster and more secure transactions.
Another major update is the introduction of in-app calling. Users will soon be able to call businesses directly from WhatsApp or receive calls from companies they have engaged with. This feature, already available for larger enterprises on the WhatsApp Business Platform, will soon expand to include voice notes and video calls, opening up new use cases such as telehealth consultations. Alongside, WhatsApp is also rolling out Business AI, allowing companies to scale their customer support by pairing conversational AI with voice calling, helping customers resolve queries in real time.
