‘Jatadhara’, the much-awaited supernatural action drama starring Sudheer Babu in the lead, has locked its theatrical release date for November 7.
The film, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, is jointly produced by Zee Studios and Ess Kay Gee Entertainments, with Umesh Kumar Bansal, Shivin Narang, Aruna Agarwal, Prerna Arora, Shilpa Singhal and Nikhil Nanda backing the project.
According to an IANS report, the mythological drama also marks Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha’s Telugu debut, where she plays Dhanapisachini, a demonic goddess symbolising greed. Sudheer Babu, on the other hand, is presented as a figure of sacrifice.
The teaser, which has already stirred curiosity, closes with the appearance of Lord Shiva, hinting at a spiritual and divine undercurrent to the otherwise mythological spectacle. The film also stars Shilpa Shirodkar and Divya Khosla in pivotal roles.
The project was officially announced in August 2024 and went on floors in February this year after a muhurtham ceremony attended by filmmakers Harish Shankar, Venky Atluri and Mohana Krishna Indraganti. Sonakshi Sinha completed her portions by May, while the production team continued shooting large-scale sequences backed by heavy VFX and elaborate sound design.
Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, ‘Jatadhara’ is billed as a mythological action drama exploring legends tied to the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple. On the technical front, Sameer Kalyani handles cinematography, Prabhat Thakur is the production designer and Sandhya Sharma serves as art director.
For Sudheer Babu, who was last seen in ‘Maa Nanna Superhero’ and ‘Harom Hara’, the release comes at a crucial phase in his career. With Sonakshi stepping into Telugu cinema for the first time and the film mounted on a large canvas, the makers are aiming for a pan-India reach when Jatadhara releases this November.
