ZEE5 is set to premiere ‘Aamar Boss’, a Bengali drama that explores themes of love, dignity and second chances, beginning August 22. The film marks the return of legendary actor Rakhee Gulzar in a moving role, directed by the acclaimed duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee.
Produced by Windows Productions, the film has already made waves at the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa and the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival.
According to a press release from the media company, ‘Aamar Boss’ delves into the tender yet complex bond between a mother and son. Mukherjee plays Animesh, the owner of a publishing house balancing personal struggles and professional demands. His mother, Shubhra, portrayed by Rakhee Gulzar, is a retired nurse who re-enters his life in an unexpected and transformative way. Alongside them, Srabanti Chatterjee, Sauraseni Maitra and Gourab Chatterjee add depth to the narrative.
Speaking about the release, a ZEE5 spokesperson said, “We are delighted to bring ‘Aamar Boss’ to audiences across the globe this August. With a legendary artist like Raakhee Gulzar, and a story that highlights the emotional dynamics between parents and children, the film is bound to resonate deeply. It’s heartwarming, humorous, and profoundly human.”
Producer Roy described the film as “a story about ageing, relevance and love within families—narratives rarely seen on screen.” She added that seeing the film reach audiences worldwide through Bangla ZEE5 feels “incredibly rewarding.”
For co-producer and actor Mukherjee, the project is a tribute to mothers and the resilience of age. “Every frame is about rediscovery,” he said, expressing hope that families watching together will see reflections of their own lives in the story.
